Google Chrome - Shine On!

Google Chrome has some nice new features to take a look at. Since I work with computers on a daily basis as my full time job, I often use the Windows Task manager to end those pesky programs that lock up or to see how much memory certain processes are taking up among other things.

Google Chrome has something very similar to the Windows Task Manager, simply called Task Manager in Chrome.

Chrome’s Task Manager will you how much memory and CPU usage each and every tab and plug-in is currently using. And for a geek like me, they have a link called “Stats for nerds” on the bottom of the Task Manager. This opens up a page with a full view of the memory and CPU usage for each of the process in the browser.

One of the neat geeky things I like about Google Chrome is that it makes each of its tabs run in separate processes in windows. This helps keep the whole browser from crashing and you can use the Windows Task Manager to end one of the individual tabs if they ever lock up on you. When a Internet Explorer page locks up on me, it normally makes all my browsing windows crash, not just one tap. So I am pumped about Google Chrome for this feature.

You can get to the Task Manager by simple right clicking on one of the tabs to bring up the menu, and then left click on Task manager.
